Embrace UK aims to relieve poverty among Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Groups by the provision of information, advice and guidance on welfare benefits, housing, immigration, money and debt issues, education and training, health related issues such as HIV/AIDS, Mental Health and conduct research as necessary.
Embrace UK has expanded its activities to all African and Caribbean communities and designed projects that may benefit service users. This includes the PACSH Project, IT, ESOL, Interpreting and parenting courses, advice and referral on money and debt, immigration, housing, welfare benefits and more are in the pipeline.
Embrace UK is funded by different Government Departments and Charitable Trusts to run different activities. The main funders include Enfield NHS, Haringey NHS, Enfield and Haringey Councils.

Advice Services
The Advice Team manages three projects namely, Information and Advocacy Advice and Support and Refugee Development Projects
Health Services
The Health Team manages six programmes, General Health, National African HIV Prevention programme (NAHIP), PACSH Project, T2K, Mental Health, and Chlamydia Screening projects.
The PACSH project
The PACSH Project provides primary and Secondary HIV prevention Programmes. There are five programmes, 3 primary and 2 secondary, under the PACSH project. The primary HIV prevention programmes are ‘Condom and Information Resources Distribution’, ‘HIV Awareness and Test Promotion’ and ‘the Love Safely’ programmes. The secondary programmes are “Community Support Services’ for HIV positive people and ‘Newly Diagnosed Pregnant Women Support Services’. The secondary programmes are known as Support, Advocacy and Signposting (SAS) Services.
Part of the PACSH Project, the NAHIP work includes African Community members residing in Camden and Islington.
Interpreting and Translation Service
The Interpreting and translation services provide linguistic services for African and Caribbean people in around 26 different languages. Interpreters are trained and gain London Open College Network (LOCN) qualifications of Level 3 at Embrace UK. Most languages are being given freelance employment by ECCUK.
Media and Communication
Embrace UK runs Radio programme in Amharic (Ethiopian National language) and English every Saturday and Sunday for 2 hours on each day. (www.embraceuk.org) Currently, we are working on the English language broadcast to target English Speaking service users from African and Caribbean origins.
Research Project
Embrace UK has undertaken research and produced documents that can be useful to improve policies in the UK. The EMBRACE UK project – Ethiopian Migrants, their Beliefs, Refugeedom, Adaptation, Calamities and Experiences in the UK – studied the life of Ethiopians in the UK. The SAFER UK Project deals with Sexual abuse and maltreatment of unaccompanied minors in the UK. Both documents are available on request. We have also produced a guideline for young people on 8 different languages ( Amharic, Somali, Turkish, Portuguese, French, Albanian, Arabic and English) on how to protect themselves.

Training Services
The Training unit of Embrace UK manages six projects. |They are: Interpreting, Parenting and trainings, ESOL, Supplementary, ESOL Citizenship Course and Mother-tongue classes.
Volunteering services
Embrace UK provides opportunities to volunteers who wants some kind of work experience and interested in helping members of the community. Our volunteers are recruited from various aspects of life experiences. Some student volunteers come from Training Centers, Schools, Colleges and universities. Some of them come to do their work placement. Our service users are also given the opportunity to volunteer.
