The PACSH Project recognises that the sexual health needs of African and Caribbean people living in London are complex and that no one agency on its own will be able to improve the sexual health of all people within these communities. In order to make a real difference to sexual health we work with many partner agencies and individuals including:
• African HIV Policy Network is an alliance of African community-based organisations and their supporters working for fair policies for people living with HIV/AIDS in the UK, providing training, support, research and information. http:///www.ahpn.org
• NAM delivers local HIV treatment updates and training sessions for HIV positive people. Their web page includes a section for people who are HIV positive, including people who are newly diagnosed with HIV and those who have known they have HIV for some time. http://www.aidsmap.com/
• Positive Women is the only national charity providing support for women living with HIV by women living with HIV. They can be contacted on their helpline Monday – Friday between 10.00 am – 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm: 0120 7713 0222. Positively Women will ring you back free of charge. http://www.positivelywomen.org.uk/
• Outzone and Girl Diva provide services for young lesbian, gay and bi-sexual people under 25 including group work, counselling sessions and workshops run by friendly and experienced youth workers. Their services are strictly confidential and open to all young people. You can also talk to their staff in confidence on a one to one basis about any issues or before using any of the services. The services are managed by PACE, who provide mental health and emotional well being services to lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender people living in London. http://www.pacehealth.org.uk/youth_work/
• African AIDS Helpline Free phone: 0800 0967 500.
The helpline provides a confidential space to explore feelings, seek advice in confidence and access information. They will answer your enquiries over the phone as well as send you written and audio information resources that you may need e.g. leaflets, booklets, posters, and audio-cassettes. The service is confidential, friendly and welcoming. Open Monday – Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) between 10.00 am – 6.00 pm. The service is available in English, French, Portuguese, Luganda, Shona and Swahili and is managed by the Black Health Agency.
• Black Health Agency. The BHA is dedicated to improving the lives and changing the futures of Black and Minority Ethnic and other marginalised communities. They support and enable people to improve their health and well being. http://www.blackhealthagency.org.uk/
• Living Well is an NHS funded programme for people living with HIV. It aims to help people improve their quality of life by providing them with a wide range of options, such as the positive Self-Management Programme, Life Coaching and Advocacy Training. http://www.livingwelluk.com/aboutus.htm
